We propose aluminum conductors in place of copper for the 400 amp and larger feeders serving the residential risers, sized in accordance with NEC ampacity tables with an appropriate upsizing. Please confirm acceptability and advise whether a credit to the Contract Sum would be expected.

Aluminum conductors are not acceptable. Specification 26 05 19 paragraph 2.01 states that all power conductors shall be copper and that aluminum conductors are not permitted at any size or in any location, including feeders and service entrance conductors. This is not a value engineering item and will not be reconsidered.
