Every through penetration and construction joint firestop shall be a system tested in accordance with ASTM E814 or UL 1479 for the specific assembly, penetrant type, penetrant size and annular space present in the field condition. Engineering judgements will be considered only where no tested system exists, shall be issued by the manufacturer's licensed engineer, and shall be submitted for the Architect's record before installation.

Label each firestop within 6 inches of the penetration with a permanent label showing the manufacturer, the system number, the installer, the installation date and the F rating. Labels shall be legible without removing ceiling tiles or access panels.
